First Bless Shoot – Ready… Set… Fortune!

Your baby’s first birthday marks more than a milestone — it’s a moment to celebrate

blessings, hope, and the promise of a bright future.

At Tinytodds Studio Singapore, our First Bless Shoot (抓周摄影) is more than just adorable photos. It’s a centuries-old Chinese tradition reimagined through beautiful storytelling and heartfelt photography — where every frame is a sprinkle of good luck, health, and prosperity.

Through this session, we honour your family’s heritage while capturing your baby’s most joyful expressions in a playful, meaningful way.

抓周 (First Grab Ceremony) – Predicting the Future with Fun

Also known as the First Grab Ceremony, this beloved Chinese tradition turns your baby into a little fortune-teller!

During the shoot, a variety of symbolic objects — books, abacus, stethoscope, microphone, gold ingot — are placed before your baby.

✨ Whatever your baby grabs first is said to reveal their future interest or talent — perhaps a scholar, an artist, a leader, or an entrepreneur!

It’s an entertaining and heart-warming ritual that reflects both family blessings and your child’s unique personality.

聪明门 聪明鼓 (Gate of Wisdom & Wisdom Drum) – Blessings for Intelligence and Creativity

In ancient Chinese culture, intelligence and wisdom were considered lifelong blessings.

🌀 Passing through the Gate of Wisdom (聪明门) symbolises the opening of a bright mind — blessing your child with curiosity, academic success, and a love for learning.

🥁 Beating the Wisdom Drum (聪明鼓) awakens creativity, confidence, and courage — a cheerful way to send positive energy into your baby’s journey ahead.

At Tinytodds, these timeless moments are captured in gentle, elegant frames — filled with laughter, colour, and emotion.

踩红龟粿 (Stepping on Ang Ku Kueh) – Wishing Longevity and Strength

The tortoise-shaped Ang Ku Kueh represents long life and resilience.
When your child steps on it, it symbolises a steady path ahead — one filled with stability, strength, and smooth growth.
It’s a cherished gesture that turns a simple step into a wish for lifelong fortune and health.

啃鸡腿 (Eating the Chicken Drumstick) – For Strength and Abundance

The chicken drumstick — the most prized part of the chicken — symbolises strength, health, and abundance.

Letting your baby “nibble” or hold it during the shoot blesses them with vitality, energy, and a prosperous life ahead.

It’s also a moment that brings out the cutest expressions — perfect for candid, joy-filled portraits.

红鸡蛋 (Red Egg Basket) – Joy, Prosperity, and Protection

Red eggs are a must-have in any traditional baby blessing.

The colour red represents happiness, protection, and good luck.

When your baby holds or poses with the Red Egg Basket, it symbolises a life filled with blessings and positivity — a vibrant tradition passed down through generations.

五福盘 (Five Blessings Plate) – A Plate Full of Fortune

Each item in the Five Blessings Plate carries a beautiful meaning:

🥬 芹菜 (Celery) – Diligence & perseverance (“芹” sounds like “勤”)

🥜 花生 (Peanut) – Longevity & prosperity (“花生” sounds like “生长”)

🍎 苹果 (Apple) – Peace & harmony (“平” means peace)

🧄 蒜 (Garlic) – Intelligence & wealth (“蒜” sounds like “算”)

🧅 葱 (Spring Onion) – Cleverness & wit (“葱” sounds like “聪”)

Together, they form the Five Blessings — a heartfelt wish for your baby to grow with wisdom, health, happiness, success, and peace.
